Dim Sum Dollies, Chopstick, and Lau Mai Gai-s

Dim Sum Dollies was hilarious. They poked fun at practically everything from racist and ‘ang moh’ jokes to spice girls, dreamgirls, en bloc blues and government-lee issues. Comprising of a small cast of only 10 stage performers and simply props, it’s a local musical that brings out our local flavor. In fact, I don't think the foreigners had anything idea with regards to the jokes. It was a sold out show with pretty much a mix all people. I find the jokes really witty and daring but I kinda prefer the musical aspect of Beauty World.

Glad that I managed to catch it this time round. Looking forward to more local productions

shoplifting
A lady was spotted stealing a bag tag from a designer bag boutique. It contains the product code, model name, price, size and color. She went through all that trouble and risk because she was unable to find that particular model online, as their site has no product catalog and needed it so that her relative can purchase it for her from Milan’s factory outlet. Lucky for her, there was only 1 sales lady on duty and she was busy serving another customer. It would be a huge joke if she got caught or if the shop was installed with tag activated alarm. All this for a bag.

Summer palace @ regent hotel by four seasons
My mum's new fav Chinese restaurant. She had been there once with her head office American colleagues and have been raving about their food ever since. She treated us for post-CNY celebrations with my uncle's family since she was in a generous mood. 10 metres before the restaurant entrance, there's already someone coming out to greet us. hahahaha

last yusheng of the year
We ordered in SakaeSushi for lunch and yusheng to mark the last day of CNY and my tab was on my supervisor =) Food at work is kinda bad so I really can't imagine how their staffs can endure that for so many years.

And there's this new temp poly year 1 student who is also attached to my supervisor for 1 MONTH, drawing double of my pay, and got the job juz because his cousin is our GM's friend.

sheer luck
My supervisor asked me to help her find the supplier of a part used in our production. She gave me
  1. a file containing suppliers' invoices
  2. 6 years worth of protocols to hunt through, hoping that somewhere this part will be mentioned amongst the other equipment
  3. 2 websites to shop for the part online in case I can't find the supplier, and
  4. a name card album where the supplier might jump out from the others
I spent the whole morning, exhausting all options and was feeling rather retarded. It was no different from searching for a needle in a haystack. So she tried asking other colleagues whether they had the slightest idea who the supplier is and the word 'derlin' came up. I think they actually meant delrin or something but well, I vaguely recall 'derlin' in one of the invoices so I've decided that that must be it. Finally we are getting somewhere. I managed to match his name and company on the invoice to his name card. We called up the company and little did we expect, he was actually somewhere in Baxter. See, we can't call his mobile coz there's NO reception in Baxter but we tried nevertheless. THE SERVICE PROVIDER IS UNAVAILABLE. PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER. Now we were pretty sure he's somewhere near but we had no idea how he looked like or who he's here to visit. My brilliant idea: All visitors or contractors entering Baxter will have to register at the reception and name their host so we can follow that lead. Anyway, after all that hassle, we managed to track his location. But till now, we still don't know whether he's our supplier. Keeping my fingers crossed, I showed him the part and yipee, he's our guy!

My supervisor actually tried hunting for a long time but has no luck. She actually said that if I manage to find the supplier, she's gonna treat me to SakaeSushi (we are supposed to order in next week)!

The bottom line is, there was no link between that invoice and the part at all. One of the component is made of silicon, not derlin or delrin. I seriously had no idea how it happened.

1 down, 5 to go
I survived my 1st month! I can walk around the plant freely without the fear of getting lost. And my desk is already a mess from piles of files from procedure documentation. The numbers are simply INSANE.

Lazy to take a bath? Maybe you can try steam sterilizing yourself. But there's no chance of coming out alive. It goes to over 120 degrees.

More photos of the plant when I get my hands on the camera again.
